Ignite4Change

A youth-led initiative founded in Fiji in April 2018 to move young people from the margins of decision-making into it.

Ignite4Change runs programmes in public-speaking training, local-governance awareness, climate-change advocacy, youth leadership, and the protection of the Rotuman language and heritage. Its Leadership, Good Governance and Human Rights project strengthens young people's confidence and skills so they can raise concerns, build partnerships with officials and confront the socio-cultural barriers that keep them out.

The work was recognised internationally for its contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 16 — Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — naming Broderick a Pacific Regional Finalist in the Commonwealth Youth Award for Sustainable Development.

Coordinator & co-facilitator · 2020–21

Professionalising Youth Work in the Pacific

A six-part module series that gave youth workers across eight Pacific nations a shared, accredited body of practice.

Delivered with the Pacific Centre for Flexible and Open Learning for Development (PACFOLD) at the University of the South Pacific, the Commonwealth of Learning, and Lakehead University, the series ran from November 2020 to July 2021 and reached learners wherever they were — vital while parts of the Pacific were still navigating the pandemic.

Broderick coordinated and co-facilitated all six modules: engaging youth in their communities; youth and the climate crisis; rights, civic engagement and political participation; health and well-being; youth entrepreneurship; and good governance in youth organisations.

A seat at the council, Rotuma

Led a youth development initiative in Rotuma that supported local governance and community participation. The programme brought together more than 50 representatives from Rotuma's seven districts and contributed to the restoration of the Council of Women's seat and the creation of a Rotuma Youth Council seat within the Council of Chiefs.

The initiative was delivered in partnership with the Pacific Community (SPC) through the Pacific Youth and COVID-19 Recovery and Response Programme.
